Dr Howard earned his bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science degree with First Class Honours. He also holds a PhD in Space Physics. Additionally, he has a Graduate Diploma of Education, accreditation from the New South Wales Education Standards Authority and the New South Wales Department of Education, and a Working with Children Clearance Check.
Experience
Dr Howard was a professional research scientist in space physics for 15 years, during which time he published 55 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and two books. He has presented his work at more than 100 international scientific conferences. He has served as a private tutor since 1995 and have tutored over 200 students. He worked as a casual physics tutor and laboratory demonstrator at the University of Newcastle and as a casual high school teacher in the Newcastle region. He is available to tutor high school students in maths, physics, chemistry, and statistics.

Dr Howard is interested in science, history, mathematics and philosophy. He was a fitness instructor in the US for 5 years before returning to Australia. He enjoys reading and the occasional computer game. In March 2017 he returned to Australia after 15 years of working abroad. He worked in the from 2002 -2005 and then in the from 2005 -2017. He lived in Montana and New Mexico before finally settling in Colorado for 8 years. Travel was a large part of his life for that time, and the work took him around the world several times. Now he has returned to his home town of Newcastle and is looking for the quiet life.
