Education
Regarding my academic achievements, I completed the HSC in 2014 (Hunter Valley Grammar School) and received high results for: Advanced and Extension 1 English, Advanced and Extension 1 Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology. In 2018, I graduated with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Newcastle, before undertaking an Honours year (i.e., an independent research project) in 2019 at the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) in the field of cardiovascular disease. I received First Class Honours and was subsequently offered a PhD scholarship from my supervisor Professor Andrew Boyle; however, I felt that my true passion resided in secondary education. As such, I have been admitted into the Master of Teaching (Secondary) program at the University of Newcastle which commences in 2020.
Experience
With over 5 years of tutoring experience, I have discovered that the greatest success in a student’s education comes from a depth of understanding, rather than a breadth of factual knowledge. This depth can only be achieved through comprehension – which can often seem like an overwhelming task without the personalised guidance. Tutoring has become one of my greatest passions and I thoroughly enjoy seeing younger adults transition from uncertainty to confidence in their schooling. The elevation in self-esteem is the most rewarding moment of my job. Throughout my experience, I have tutored students of all ages and capacities - from primary school children to adults at the tertiary level.
